February is Spay/Neuter Awareness Month
It’s important to have your pets spayed or neutered before the warmer months, when pregnancies tend to occur.
Spaying and neutering your cat or dog is one of the most responsible steps you can take fo…r caring for your pet. Spaying female pets and neutering male pets helps dramatically reduce the devastatingly high number of pets that are euthanized in our country every year.
Pet overpopulation contributes to an endless amount of suffering for companion animals. In the United States between three and four million adoptable pets are euthanized in shelters every year due to lack of space.
There are many health benefits associated with having your pet spayed or neutered. Spaying your female pet before her first heat significantly reduces her chances of getting certain types of cancer. Male cats and dogs are at a reduced risk of testicular cancer when neutered.
